About Alida Lomingo
Lomingo Alida was a Congolese Singer, Composer, and Dancer in one of the best Congolese band of the 1970s, namely the Orchestre Stukas. People knowledgeable about Congolese music history often immediately link the Orchestre Stukas to its energetic leader Lita Bembo. Quite frankly, that seems normal. Libek brought movie-like energy to the band. However, Alida was one of the most instrumental figures of the band too. Indeed, he is credited to have created the band in 1968 in a part of Kinshasa called “20 Mai”. Lita recognized that Alida was already part of the band as he joined it in 1969.
On stage, Alida seemed more tempered and shy then Lita, and accompanied the latter using his higher-pitch voice. Talking about his voice, and talent, they earned him to work as a vocalist in collaborations with other bands like the T.P O.K. Jazz (on its album “Attaquent Anjela”).
Here is a video of the Stukas performing. Alida is on the left side, with a yellow pant (… yes, yellow).
